People who are “in the know” have been skipping the overpopulated megalopolises like Orlando, Miami and Tampa in favor of traveling to smaller, less congested and more affordable places.

Both sides of the state of Florida have smaller cities which make tourism a breeze. On the left coast you have towns like Naples and Sarasota. These are areas where there is plenty to do and you won’t get stuck in an hour-long traffic jam.

East Coast of Florida

On the eastern coast of Florida you have well-known spots like St. Augustine and Daytona Beach. Both cities have their pros and cons. But just a little farther south there exists a nice little string of towns and cities which are still undiscovered by much of the vacationing population.

Cities like Vero Beach and Melbourne Beach have all the beach amenities the larger spots offer but with less hassle and less teenage party-goers.

Living in Small Towns in Florida

Some challenges people have when they first move to Florida is adjusting to the heat. But it should be noted that summers in Florida aren’t any hotter than in most of the other 49 states.

Another challenge new residents face are bugs and other pests. As long as you have access to affordable pest control in the Melbourne Florida area, you are fine. You can keep your home pest-free for as little as 300 bucks a year.

Visiting and living in Florida doesn’t have to be a challenge. If you go into it knowing what to expect then you should have no real trouble at all.
